Optional
For those of us who live in hilly landscapes there is an optional electric power unit, the uphill assist for KV4.
This electric drive unit is mounted on the main 40 x 40 mm boom inside the nose cone. The motor is linked directly to the crank by means of a second chain.
This way the uphill assist unit will always use the same gears you are using. The motor runs at maximum efficiency when pedaling speed (crank revs) is between 80 and 90 revolutions/min. This is the most efficient range for your legs as well.
The motor unit has a freewheel so it will not slow you down when not in use.
